Abstract: The Volvo Group as global provider of transportation related products and services is challenged today by balancing increasing customer needs on innovations, emerging markets, managing the complexity of networked functions and the increasing demand on quality and safety at lower costs.
The improvement of both the cooperation between company units (Trucks, Busses, Construction equipment, Motors, etc.) and the cooperation with component suppliers has got an essential factor in these challenges.
The systematic and controlled exchange of all data between different tool landscapes between the Volvo companies and their suppliers is the base for a successful product development.
In this presentation we will show our implementation approach of a requirements based cooperation using RIF and will describe the experience we made with.
The solution provides means to establish and update traceability between a tool for model based development and a requirements management tool.
Carsten Böckmann is Business Analyst for a Systems Engineering Services Group at Volvo IT in Gothenburg. After 5 years in software engineering for telecommunications, he moved over to the automotive industry in 2003. In his role as a senior consultant for requirements engineering and business analyst he supported several automotive and transportation projects with focus on requirements management and manufacturer-supplier cooperation. His special interests are product line management and requirements driven project management.
